Hindsight is 2021

Who would have thought the year would have gone by so quickly? In some ways it seems like 2020 just never ended – and yet here, somehow, we are, on the threshold of 2022.

It’s been a year marked by a lot of loss – of lives, of hopes, of livelihoods, of milestones. Families and friendships have been damaged by political polarisation in many parts of the world. Our healthcare workers have been burned out. Supply chains are broken.

And yet, it is a time of hope. All pandemics come to an end, and maybe we are finally starting to see the end of this one – with vaccines, with mutations that may be less virulent, with building back better. Maybe we can build a post-pandemic world that is less unjust, less harsh towards those who were not born into privilege. Maybe we can find ways to avert the climate disaster heading towards us. Maybe.

My wish for you is that you find that this time was not wasted – that you have learned more about yourself, about those you love, about what you want in life. Many of us have had some time to think, and to reassess where we were going when we were so rudely interrupted in March 2020. Many of us were sleepwalking at that time. Are we awake now? Where are we headed?

May the new year bring you peace, health, love and abundance every day!
