The following information comes from Standing Together in Israel/Palestine:
Over the past few weeks, thousands of Palestinians and Jews in Israel have been donating food and aid to people in Gaza, and working tirelessly to get it ready to be transported via an international NGO.
We collected food and relief supplies (diapers, baby milk substitutes, feminine hygiene products, soap and shampoo) in various communities throughout Israel, and financed the entire operation (trucks, warehouses, forklifts, packaging, logistics, etc. Now to send the aid from our warehouses to the international aid organization, we have to pay them for every truck that goes to Gaza. The payment includes the truck to the border of Israel, the truck inside Gaza and the costs of food distribution and security.
We managed to collect much more than we thought we would, and with each truck comes a lot of additional expenses in order to get the aid through to Gaza via several organizations. We urgently need to raise an extra 2 million shekels to cover the cost of getting all of this aid to Gaza, and we need your help!
