Why You Need to Go Outside, but Safely

Are we stir-crazy yet?

We are getting so many contradictory signals – stay inside, but make sure you get some fresh air and exercise. Stay away from other humans, but be sure to stay connected. We are social creatures, but right now we need to stay away from each other, to protect the vulnerable.

This is such hard stuff.

Many people are struggling with debilitating anxiety – the lack of control, the frightening news, the fear of an invisible enemy that might be living in our houses already.

So what do we do about it?

Get some sunshine, if at all possible. Move your body. Breathe some fresh air. Get a change of scene.

All of these objectives, which are pretty much guaranteed to lift your spirits and help you get through your day in a better frame of mind, can be achieved by a brief walk around the block.

If that is not possible for you right now, there are other things you can do – find an online yoga class, sit by a sunny window, occupy your mind with things and people that you love.

But if you can put your shoes on and head out the door, even if it’s just for a few minutes, I strongly recommend that you do so. Stay safely away from other people, except those you live with. This virus is no joke.

Did you go for a walk? Did you feel better? I would love to know. Please comment and tell me about it!

Connection is everything in this time of isolation.

My local meetings are obviously on hold right now. Come visit me for Social Sunday on Zoom, on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at 7 pm CDT. Just click on www.energyqueenszoom.com at the time, and I’d love to chat with you about wellness, motivation, life and just about anything we want! I can’t wait to see you.
