I’m about to start a new set of posts, chronicling my journey to learn WordPress. I’m going to be following this book (affiliate link).
It’s quite a few notches above a Dummies book, but I do have some background in programming, HTML and CSS. If you don’t, don’t despair – I’m happy to explain anything you are wondering about. Once a teacher, always a teacher. Together we can learn how to work this thing.
For one thing, I’m hoping I can learn how to get images in properly, even when they are Amazon Affiliate links, so my posts are not ugly like this one. But one baby step at a time. Stay tuned!
Aliza, you crack me up. Go for it. You can’t possibly come near a private-school Grade 9 student.
Daniel, thanks! The Amazon links are a little different – you have to paste in the HTML and I’m not quite sure how to manipulate the image in that case. But it will come. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and I hope that will continue!

If your editor is like the one in my wordpress, there’s a media manager you can use to insert an image. You can then go into the text editor to play with the HTML to add the other information and wrapper stuff you need for the links. The only question is: sometimes wordpress likes to strip stuff out.
